Earlier this month, Epic Games announced that Fortnite was finally getting an official first-person mode in Fortnite Ballistic. The early-access launch for Fortnite Ballistic arrived this morning, but it almost immediately ran into matchmaking problems, possibly due to demand.

When Fortnite Ballistic is working again, players will be able to dive into 5v5 battles featuring teams split between attackers and defenders. The attackers are tasked with setting off a Rift Point Device bomb, which the defenders have to disarm by any means necessary. If the bomb goes off, the attacking team wins. And in this mode, there are no respawns. Players who get killed will shatter into little pieces until the next round starts. Each round can also end before the bomb is neutralized or detonated if an entire team is wiped out. Players will swap sides after six rounds, and the first team to win seven rounds takes the match. Ranked and unranked play options are available.

For now, Skyline 10 is the only available map in Fortnite Ballistic, with more to come in the future. Pickaxes, contrails, instruments, vehicles, and jam tracks are not supported in this mode. However, players can utilize proximity mines, bubble shields, recon grenades, frag grenades, and impulse grenades.
