Are you hoping to get more food in Mewgenics? This resource is important if you want to keep your cats alive. As any fur parent would know, bunch of fuzzy furballs running around, with so very little food in your home, is a recipe for disaster. Our guide here has all the details you need.

Note: Are you just as curious as a cat? You can find all of our other guides in our Mewgenics guides hub.

What happens if you don’t have enough food?

Every kitten or cat in your home consumes one unit of food per daily cycle. So, if you have 25 food and 20 cats, you’ll have only five units of food come the next day.

If you’re short on resources, there’s a method that you can try, albeit a risky one at that and it involves moving cats outside your home:

  • Cats outside your home do not count toward the current population, which means they won’t consume food. They will starve due to a lack of food, thus causing their stats to decrease. But, you can bring them back inside the house if you want. They’ll recover once they’re able to consume food again.
  • If cats are starving–whether inside or outside your home–you have one more day left. If you still lack food the next day, they’ll die.
  • Starving cats will then begin devouring the carcasses of other cats This can potentially unlock the Necrophage disorder, which has the following effect: At the start of your turn, if there’s a dead body near you, move toward it and eat it. You gain All Stats Up and heal +4 HP.
  • Note that kittens that are left outside will automatically disappear the next day.

Tracy’s food items

To get food in Mewgenics rather quickly, you can check Tracy’s shop. You can spend 5x coins to purchase 10x units of food. There are also times when she has more than one packet.

Food from battles

Generally speaking, you’ll find more food from the battles that you win throughout an adventure run. Regular battles, especially in early zones, won’t provide much. However, you’ll receive more rewards if (a) you go through the “hard” path in a zone or (b) you’re able to eliminate bosses.

Food from events

There’s also a chance to receive food from random events that occur during an adventure. These types of events usually have an image of meat, carcasses, or a container. The “loot” and “open” options often yield extra food as a reward. That said, you still need to have a high enough stat/attribute to successfully pass the stat check.

How to get more Food Storage Boxes

By default, you’re capped at 100 units of food. You won’t be able to exceed this limit even if you come home with a huge haul after an adventure.

Thankfully, you can increase this amount further by purchasing additional Food Storage Boxes from Tracy. Here’s how to unlock this upgrade:

  • Tracy needs 10 cats that are five years of age or older for her next reward tier.
  • Buy the Food Storage Box, which costs 100x coins. If you don’t have enough money, you can keep going on adventure runs. The Food Storage Box should still be in her wares in succeeding days.
  • Open the Furniture menu and find a cozy spot where to place the Food Storage Box. It grants +40 max food capacity.

Note that Tracy alternates among these special items: Food Storage Box, Class Collar, and Special Furniture Idol. So, just keep sending your slightly older cats to her until she offers up another reward.

That does it for our guide on how to get more food in Mewgenics. Since we’re already on the subject of NPC functions, you might want to check our upgrades guide.

Mewgenics has over a dozen classes, along with hundreds of skills and items, to keep future runs refreshing. You’ve got your work cut out for you, especially with countless potential synergies and random permutations. If you need more help, you can always take a look at our Mewgenics guides hub.
