From Software has announced that its upcoming Switch 2 game The Duskbloods will not make it out on time this year–it’s now scheduled for release in 2027.

“We apologize to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support,” the studio said.

From Software added that the delay will allow the studio to “further enhance” the game’s core concepts, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression. “We have decided to move the launch, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing,” the team explained.

The Duskbloods was a no-show at the September Nintendo Direct, prompting some fans to worry about its development state.

In getting delayed to 2027, The Duskbloods will stay out of the blast zone of GTA 6, if that’s something From Software and Nintendo are even concerned about. Whatever the case, excitement is high for The Duskbloods. A From Software employee recently revealed that interest in The Duskbloods playtest surpassed that of Elden Ring Nightreign’s.

The Duskbloods is a multiplayer PvPvE game that’s directed by From Software’s Hidetaka Miyazaki.

GameSpot’s Jake Dekker came away impressed during his hands-on The Duskbloods preview, saying he’d “never played anything like it” and “couldn’t wait to play more.” The Duskbloods is still slated to release sometime this year but does not currently have a release date.
