Hamster Network Becomes First-Ever Gaming Layer-2 on TON

Hamster Network, launched on September 26, 2024, becomes the first-ever gaming-focused Layer-2 blockchain built on TON, the company mentioned in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter). The network brings a powerful mix of scalability, speed, and cost-efficiency designed specifically for gaming and decentralized applications.

“The network is launched in collaboration with TON who helped make this a reality. Telegram has been […] bringing Web3 right into almost a billion phones through easy-to-use mini-apps that require no installation,” the company said.

Hamster Kombat’s developers are spearheading this innovation, ensuring that users experience seamless Web3 interactions with minimal transaction costs. With Telegram’s massive user base of nearly a billion people, this new Layer-2 aims to bring crypto adoption to the mainstream.

TON’s Layer-2 Evolution

The network runs on the Ton Virtual Machine, meaning all smart contracts remain fully compatible with TON. Developers can easily migrate their dApps to the Hamster Network while maintaining the security and decentralization of TON’s Layer-1 blockchain.

Unlike Ethereum, which already hosts several Layer-2 networks like Coinbase’s Base and Blast, TON has been slower in adopting similar technologies. However, the arrival of Hamster Network signals a shift in strategy, potentially paving the way for other TON projects to integrate Layer-2 solutions.

With a dedicated decentralized exchange (DEX), a wallet, and a canonical bridge available from launch, Hamster Network is equipped to support a new wave of blockchain gaming experiences. Developers are already experimenting with new possibilities, aiming to push the boundaries of decentralized gaming.

Scalability, Cost Efficiency, and New Possibilities

Layer-2 networks play a crucial role in blockchain adoption by addressing the biggest challenges – scalability and transaction costs. Hamster Network enhances TON by handling transactions off the main chain while ensuring security remains intact.

For Hamster Kombat, this means faster processing speeds, lower latency, and reduced transaction fees. Players can enjoy smooth in-game interactions without worrying about high costs, making the platform more accessible to a global audience. The reduced transaction costs also enhance the ecosystem’s economic model, increasing the demand for HMSTR tokens and Toncoin.

Hamster Network is actively seeking community participation to test and refine the network. Through the “Hamster Boost” initiative, users can take part in blockchain testing quests, earning bounties and rewards in return. Recently, Hamster Network has made a strong comeback with its HamsterVerse initiative that will unlock valuable rewards across all projects within Season 2.
