Do you want to complete Deep in the Valley in Phantom Blade Zero? This optional quest takes place in the game’s first region. It’s imperative that you tackle it when you’re able to, as it opens up a huge section of the zone.
How to start the Deep in the Valley quest
The Phantom Blade Zero Deep in the Valley quest is pretty hard to miss. After leaving the Outpost and heading north, you’re bound to run into an NPC who’s standing guard in front of a gate. The poor fella seems to have lost the key, and it’s up to you to find it.

Help this fella out.
Where to find the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key
The Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key is in, you guessed it, the actual tower. Well, to be clear, it’s at the very top of the spire, fairly close to where you encounter the Friendly Shadow Warden.
Here’s the kicker: You won’t be able to reach it until you have a certain Phantom Edge weapon. For now, just continue the campaign until you’re able to beat The Hunt, the boss that’s been goading you throughout the chapter. He drops the Hunter’s Chain Sickle, which acts akin to a grappling hook.
Once you’ve taken out your foe, don’t proceed to the next chapter/region. Instead, go back to the top of the Sha-Chi Tower. You should see a button prompt that allows you to grapple and reach the topmost ledge.

Grab the key after you finish off the chapter’s main boss.
What can you expect once you’re Deep in the Valley?
Once you have the key, it’s time to go back to the gate from earlier. The NPC’s nowhere to be found, but you can head through the pass. Aside from the usual rewards, such as upgrade materials, here are some other goodies for you to check out:
- There’s a Lóng Pillar–i.e. dragon pillar–that leads to a tough boss fight.
- You can find herbs needed for Yu’er’s Apprentice Healer quest.
- You’ll be able to explore the furnace area of the Sha-Chi Tower. If you look closely, you might discover a lift that takes you to the Crimson Manor.

Go through the gate (left) and check out areas like the Crimson Manor (right).
That does it for our guide on how to complete Deep in the Valley in Phantom Blade Zero. Try to revisit the game’s first region whenever you’re prompted, as doing so helps advance certain quests and world states.
