The creator of Pet Alien and Pajanimals launches his long-awaited Web3 genesis project
In the age of NFTs, digital collectibles are the leading segment for both sales and trading volume. More toys and collectibles are being produced than ever before, yet it’s rare that the opportunity to obtain a hand drawn digital in collectible from a prolific product designer with ties to Cartoon Network and The Jim Henson Company comes along.
There’s also a growing number of marketplaces and blockchains where collectibles are tokenized and authenticated, yet only one of them is the digital original since 2016. Touting millions of collectors on its fan-first platform, Quidd continues to host prominent drops with the world’s most familiar brands.

On Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 2pm ET, Quidd Market will introduce EYEdentity, its genesis collaboration with John Doze, a lifelong storyteller whose ideas and creations include Pet Alien, the animated TV series on Cartoon Network. John Doze presents EYEdentity as his first digital collection with a scalable merchandise concept that is aesthetically unique and refreshingly meaningful.
EYEdentity offers an entertaining way to connect with others by collecting characters and personalities you can identify with. Being that identity is partly how we feel inside, and also how we express our feelings, Web3 offers a fluid and interchangeable social environment to present a digital identity that diverts from one’s real identity.
EYEdentity collectibles made up of Unidentified Subjects are fun because they look awesome, and they also look amusingly familiar. A total of 42 unique EYEdentity Unidentified Subjects will be released over 3 consecutive days on Quidd Market in sets titled, Silver Screen (17 collectibles), Spooky (13 Halloween-inspired collectibles) and Creative (9 collectibles). After each day of trading, Quidd users who rank among the top collectors for each set will be awarded a rare EYEhole collectible for each set drop.

John Doze knew he had a knack to develop and create fictional characters with the breakout success of his first entrepreneurial venture; a pajama company he owned for more than a decade. His printed characters were popular on t-shirts and other all-over prints, which evolved into plush toy manufacturing to accessorize his pajamas. From there, John Doze self-published a children’s book, which was later adapted to become the popular Kids TV series seen on Cartoon Network called Pet Alien.
“I come up with the characters, the world, and what I think is a good direction for the story — then I bring in the pros,” Doze said. Together with his longtime business partner, Joy Kovaleski, they formed PSYCLOPS LLC when EYEdentity was an early iteration. of a functional hard plastic carrying case for the iPod Nano.
“The iPod Nano was the first one that had a video screen,” Doze recalled. “One of my kids had one, and I’m looking at this thing, and I saw a face. So I started sketching and playing around, and that’s when I came up with this cartoon-like PSYCLOPS character,” he remembered. Unfortunately, after raising money from family and friends, the 2008 financial crisis created a market snafu that greatly impacted the launch of the new product. Apple changed its original Nano design, and the first cases were obsolete.

Kovaleski, whose background is in product design and manufacturing, met John Doze when he was showing his designs for Pet Alien. Kovaleski was part of the team at Applause that took the California Raisins from a TV commercial to a billion-dollar industry. “What I love about John Doze is he’s got a unique look to his designs. We did all kinds of very marketable and profitable programs that always resonated with. the market,” Kovaleski said. “His designs are fun and fresh, and that’s why we’ve been able to do so many projects over all these years.”
Chris Thomes, a creative consultant with PSYCLOPS, has worked with Jeff on a variety of entertainment projects over the last 20 years. Thomes dissects the elements of an idea so the concept doesn’t get lost in creative execution. “This was a TV idea when I began consulting but we were able to pivot into digital content and how the story translates across the Web3 space, and that’s when I knew the concept was a powerhouse, because the story can be told in a variety of different ways,” Thomes said. “This concept can touch people from a simple image to a piece of animation, and can even expand deeply into an entire franchise space,” Thomes added.
PSYCLOPS has also collaborated with Assemblage Entertainment, a 3D animation company and partner responsible for helping John Doze bring concepts and characters to life through animation. Assemblage Entertainment was the original company that animated Pet Alien; a testament to the loyalty and commitment of everyone on the creative team of PSYCLOPS.

In the new creator economy, creators are born overnight, and success can appear instantaneous. Although success never happens overnight, the real art is the art of the sale. Brands are eager to drop their digital products, yet gaining traction among crypto natives is a challenging prospect. Projects often decide if they should campaign to onboard their existing audience into crypto, or appeal to the existing crypto community. The best strategy is always both.
“We have an opportunity with Quidd — professionals that see the magic of the EYEdentity brand. They have a platform and a community,” Kovaleski said. With its own footprint in the market and over 8 million unique users who are already engaged and in search of the next best collectible, real momentum that results in a unique opportunity for EYEdentity and its Unidentified Subjects is a realistic expectation. Success in collectibles requires being part of and transacting with a community that cares about what its creators care about. This is the best case scenario for EYEdentity, because the creative team decided early on that it wouldn’t treat its intellectual property like business as usual.
“This is our business. Something we’ve built over the years. It wasn’t like I came up with the idea to go around town pitching it,” Doze said. “We talked to a handful of people and we got great responses — but that was around the time that I discovered NFTs, and went down the rabbit hole. I love the community aspect of the market,” he said. Once Doze began to do the research, he knew the blockchain was the right place for EYEdentity.

“Jeff is eternally optimistic. He always sees the best in what we have,” Kovaleski said. “The beauty of having the support of incredible family and friends is they’ve never really pushed us at all about the evolution of our original idea over the past 15 years — they continue to still have confidence in us, and appreciate the work that we are doing to find the answers.”
Quidd is the platform partner that will deliver global brand awareness for EYEdentity; a catalyst that could be used to leverage other licensee agreements and create the “brandchise” the team believes is possible. By engaging with and listening to the Quidd community, John Doze and company could accomplish something special. At the right time, PSYCLOPS wants to consider collaborations with other Quidd Market licensees in different product categories, including vinyl collectibles and plush characters.
The growth of the collectibles market will rely in part on accessibility to rare assets, and trustworthiness. Brands like EYEdentity with a rich history of consistent persistence and exceptionally well-crafted products are the lifeblood of the Web3 ecosystem.
